About the data

The Continuing Care Accommodation Standards compliance reporting, published by the Government of Alberta on Open Alberta under the Open Government Licence – Alberta, updated quarterly. The file has 0 rows: one for each finding, and one for each visit with no finding. It covers visits back to 2013.

The government’s own viewer at standardsandlicensing.alberta.ca shows one home at a time. Each home page here links to its record there, and to the standards it was cited under.

• Only the file. Visits, findings, statuses and dates are the file’s. The finding wording on the viewer falls under alberta.ca’s terms, which do not allow commercial reproduction without permission, so it is not reproduced; each visit links to the official record instead.
• No individuals. A home whose operator is a private person is shown without the operator’s name. Operators that are organisations are named as the file names them.
• Addresses on request. Where an operator asked the government not to show the street address, the home page shows the city only.
• No ratings. The site counts visits and findings and shows the method. A city comparison ranks homes by their share of visits that found something, since 2023-01-01, and says what that does not tell you.
• Not health or care advice. A finding is what was recorded on a day. Visit the home, ask for its latest report, and ask how it meets each standard.

• Window: visits on or after 2023-01-01, the file’s recent years, so the numbers do not move with each refresh.
• A visit counts if it assessed compliance. Consultations are kept on the record but not counted.
• A visit is non-compliant if the file records any non-compliance for it.
• A home needs 3 or more visits in the window to be ranked.
• A standard listed as “standard not recorded in the file” is a finding the government recorded without its standard number. It counts.

The site follows the government’s file, which is refreshed weekly when it changes. A home that disputes a record should raise it with the home and with the Continuing Care Licensing Office at cclo@gov.ab.ca, the contact the government gives for these questions. A correction to what this site shows is made when the file changes, not by hand.
